Parker Xpress signs local physician

Dr. John A. Littleford has been named team physician of the new Parker Xpress, our first collegiate league baseball team.

Graduating high school and college players have been drafted from all over the country to play in this prestigious wood bat league, including two with close connections with the Colorado Rockies.

As team physician, Dr. Littleford, of the Parker Pain & Injury Clinic will be completing player physicals in the next few weeks and be on hand overseeing any injuries that occur on the field. As a board certified osteopathic physician, Dr. Littleford is highly skilled in treating acute and chronic pain and injuries. Athletic injuries make up a large part of his practice.

He began, like most osteopaths, as a family physician, but has been specializing in osteopathic manipulative medicine for the last 22 years, incorporating prolotherapy, triggerpoint therapy and other treatments for total care of chronic pain and injuries.

Dr. Littleford is an ex-football player and follows all sports enthusiastically. For years he has been on hand at his daughters' soccer games, gaining the unofficial "team doc" title throughout their club play. "Soccer injuries can be the most serious of all sports, except football," says Littleford. "In addition to the range of injuries I see in my office, I feel prepared to take on the Xpress."

"The manner in which I treat injuries usually cuts back on an athlete's down time. Depending on the severity of the injury, an athlete can return to their sport within days instead of languishing on the bench. With the intensity of the Xpress' schedule, this is of utmost importance to the players and coaches."

Dr. Littleford will be assisted in the team care by Dr. Steve Vaught, a chiropractor also specifically trained in sports injuries. The combined services of an osteopath, a chiropractor and orthopaedic services of Steadman-Hawkins should cover all the bases.
