Farrier makes 'horse calls' for shoe fittings
Contributed by: Daniel Smith/YourHub.com on 6/3/2008

If you've ever had shoe trouble at an inconvenient time - say, a broken heel, or when a shoelace snaps, you'll appreciate how horse owners feel about have a farrier handy when you need one.

Such was the case in Parker on May 31 at the Colorado Horse Park.

Geriann Henderson was competing in the cross country phase of the three-day event in the spacious park when her horse, Riverdell's Strider, lost a shoe going over a jump.

Luckily, farrier Chad Toney, of Elizabeth, had his mobile workshop on the grounds, and after a little drilling, fitting and nailing; Strider had a new shoe and was ready to take to the field for more competition.

Hooray for the smithy! And congrats to Geriann. I wrote a farrier story in YourHub in February this year.
