Just off Hampden and Kipling there is a small ballfield where the weekends best games get played - by the world's most excited players !!
Jason Jennings Adaptive Field is designed for players who normally don't get a chance to play on the ball fields of the Denver area, and lets them experience the thrills of the game and the excitement to hear the fans cheering for them as the round the bases.
On Saturday morning, the Mustang Fastpitch (Softball) Team volunteered to work as "Buddies" for the players. Each Mustang was paired up with a player on each team and the Buddy would help the player get to the bases, catch and/or throw the ball, and just be their friend for the two 1-hour games that were played that morning.
The Mustang players were great Buddies and really bonded with their players and provided encouragement and cheering for each and every player. Attired in their "Sports Made Possible" yellow shirts, the Mustangs really seemed to enjoy their time working with these players and just spending some time getting to know them.
I know the players really appreciate the time and effort the Buddies provide to them, so both groups benefit greatly from the experience. Many of the Mustangs commented on how they enjoyed the experience and want to do the "Sports Made Possible" experience again.
The Mustangs plan to make it a regular event. Thanks so much to the Mustang volunteers - I'm sure you were enriched by the experience.
Parents - you have much to be proud about with your Mustang daughters, they were great buddies for some special players who really appreciated their kindness and support.
Thanks again, Mustangs - you and your buddies were awesome !!!!
