Snow shovels, canine dreams, and pain medications

Okay, so we Parkerites got hit big time. The Holiday Blizzard of 2006 was fun while it lasted. But now comes the inevitable big cleanup.

Well, I had bought Jan a wonderful Christmas present. It was suppose to be a surprise but I decided, under the circumstances, to let her open it early. It was hard to wrap anyway. I had her close her eyes and led her to the garage. Imagine her delight when she discovered the fabulous new snow shovel, just like mine. These puppies are ergonomically designed to help prevent lower back trauma. (Never mind 'rest of the body' trauma.)

Now we could stand shoulder to shoulder clearing away the 25 - 30 inches of white stuff. A strong marriage, as everyone knows, is built on teamwork. What better way to practice teamwork than to shovel the snow, side by side, whistling Christmas Carols and working up a good sweat? It is, after all, the season of sharing. Isn't it?

As soon as the strong winds died down and the sky began to clear, we eagerly grabbed our respective snow removal tools and got to work. View the exciting photos and pretend you are there! Sing along with us.

Our neighbor's dog gave us a few minutes of amusement. He went a little crazy in the deep snow. His name is Dexter and he lives in Hidden River II with Chuck and Carol Ott. Dexter dreams of joining a sled team and winning the Idytarod. Yes it's true, even pets can have lofty ambitions.

Meanwhile Joe and Jan McDaniel will take some pain medications and go to bed early.
