Local club receives silver medal from USA Swimming

Mission Aurora Colorado Swimming-MACS has been designated as a Silver Medal Club by USA Swimming for attaining a high level of athlete performance and organizational success. MACS is one of only four swim teams in Colorado to receive this distinguished award, which recognizes USA swim clubs for their commitment to performance excellence, successful club administration, and for their support of USA swimming. Founded in 1977, the team has a long history of providing swimmers in Parker, Aurora, Centennial, and Denver with access to a premier swim program.

Headquartered in Aurora and including 14 swimmers from Parker, MACS has had a strong start to the 2009 season. Parker nine-year-old Seth Hendrix recently racked up three top 10 finishes at the 2009 Colorado State Short Course Championship in Fort Collins. Hendrix placed fourth in the 50-yard butterfly, seventh in the 100-yard butterfly, and ninth in the 200-yard individual medley races. Another MACS swimmer from Parker, 13-year-old Allison Arnold, took two top 10 finishes among the 13-14 girls in the distance events at the state championship. Arnold finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle and sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle events.
