Blog Entry 9 of 97 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

It has that great new office smell
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 8/21/2006

OK, so YourHub.com moved into the new office building this past weekend. Let me tell you, this place is nice. We're on the 10th floor and we have this great view of the Capitol Building. We're also on the same floor as the cafeteria and the patio, so we get more great views of Civic Center Park and the Denver Art Museum.

It really is gorgeous around here. We have more light, more space and we just have an awesome newsroom. Not that I didn't think our previous newsroom was this dark cave, but it does pale to the new-fangled technology we have all around us now.

The best thing I like about our new building is the close proximity to the 16th Street Mall.Previously, we had to walk about three blocks to get to 16th Street, which isn't bad, but now all I have to do is step out of the building andwalk around the corner.

It certainly has beena week of new beginnings for many of us. For YourHub.com, a new office. For students, going back to school. This reminds me of the first day at Castle View High School in Castle Rock last Monday, Aug. 14. It was totally different from my first day of class. They had the Black Eyed Peas and Pink blaring the sound system, and the assistant principal treated it like he was an MTV host.

I remember in my day when they herded us into the gym for a brief welcome back speech and what to expect for the new year. Short and not too sweet. Now, it seems like they're trying to connect with kids by "partying" with them, which is great; they're trying to get them interested in school again.

Well, I'll be enjoying our new "crib" and continuing to help you post your stories and photos from around Douglas County. Perhaps sometime you could drop by for a visit and I'll give you the grand tour. For now, enjoy some of the photos I took of my desk and the views around us.

Congratulations on your new digs! I'm envious, all I can see from my window is the chemistry building next door. It's not much to look at. Enjoy your new home!
