As in several previous years the Roxborough Primary and Intermediate school children expressed their artistic talents by participating in the ArtROX art show founded by Maryellen Russo with cooperation from the Parent Teacher Involvement Committee. The show has several themes expressed in different medias. Thanks to the Wildlife Experience in Parker the entries from ages 5 through 12 are exhibited for public viewing through July 5th.
On June 16th a reception was held at the Wildlife Experience with over 90 children and parents in attendance. Snacks were gobbled up and every child got a certificate and a coupon for a second family visit. They also participated in a craft project. This was the culmination of many efforts assisted by art teachers Kennetha MIller and Shirley Gonerka.
Mrs., Russo, Patricia Jenkins, and Cheryl Baker, as representatives of the Roxborough Arts Council were a big part in bringing this community event to fruition. Their guidance provides an opportunity for students and parents to develop their knowledge and understanding of art - so that just "looking" at art takes on a whole new meaning.
