Roxborough artists wow the community

An exciting community art event took place at the Roxborough Market Place at Rampart Range Road and Waterton Road last weekend. This Autumn in the Arts show had record attendance. Many visitors were there to admire and purchase various forms of art media. The Roxborough Arts Council (RAC) and many generous local businesses sponsored this well received exhibition of fine art created by local artists.

Most all medias were represented including, oil, watercolor, acrylic, fiber, collage, photography, woodwork, ceramic, and glass work in two and three-dimensional forms of wall hangings, decorative pieces, portraits, gift cards, etc. Visitors had a vast selection of art works to choose from for decorations and gifts for home, office, and friends, some from nationally recognized artists.

Live music and light refreshments greeted attendees. A silent auction generated active bidding on items donated by special sponsors and created by exhibiting artists. Children were also represented by their artwork at one end of the large display room. Encaustic art demonstrations and participation generated a lot of interest from kids and adults alike.

Awards in various categories recognized the finest outstanding entries from the participating artists. Many visitors made positive comments like one from a local decorator - "I didn't realize there were so many fine artists right here in my neighborhood. No need for me to look in those expensive galleries for my original art needs."

The proceeds from the show will help the RAC; a non-profit organization, to further their noble cause to support artistic and cultural activities for the Roxborough community. If you missed this art show you can still view many of the pieces as they are now displayed in the Firehouse Gallery at the Roxborough West Metro Fire Station for a month or so .

Keep your eye open for future show notices put on by the RAC as you will surely want to attend.
