What I do: Registered nurse for 41 years and now a candidate for public office.
My favorite place in Douglas County to hang out: My house with a view of the entire front range.
What I like most about living here: The friendly people, the beautiful surroundings and the peace and quiet.
My interests and hobbies: Public policy and current events; Cooking and entertaining.
My favorite thing to cook: Cheesecake and anything grilled.
People who inspired me: My Dad, who was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West point. He taught me from a very early age to always vote, be patriotic and to be interested in and involved in the making of public policy as a citizen.
How I have contributed to the community: I believe that my 40-plus years as a nurse speaks to that.
What are the biggest issues facing Douglas County now: Rapid growth, economic development, education, healthcare and water.
What are the biggest issues facing the state right now: Healthcare, education, economic development, alternative energy. A cooperative approach to issues can go a long way in getting things accomplished.
