Sheriff David Weaver endorsed
Ryan Stuart for Douglas County Board of Education today.
"I am honored to have Sheriff Weaver's support," Stuart said in making the announcement. "School safety is one of the top priorities I will have on the school board. I would like to see the school district build on its partnership with the Sheriff's office and other local law enforcement agencies to continue to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep our kids safe, to deter violent crime in our schools and target the drug dealers that prey on our children."
Stuart is a former Deputy District Attorney and prosecuted juvenile offenders. "When I was working as a district attorney in the Juvenile Unit, I saw up-close the impact that drugs and violence had on kids. Our kids aren't able to learn if they are worried about drugs, scared of the next school shooting, or being bullied. Our schools should be safe havens; places where students can focus completely on academics, athletics, and the arts."
