HubCap: Can you be happy being you?
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 9/18/2006

I don't have a subscription to People, US Weekly or any other celebrity news magazine, but I read the covers of all of them on a weekly basis when I'm waiting in line at the grocery store. Now, I don't watch much television, but from my supermarket-line research, I can tell you this: The five most important people in America are:

1) Jessica Simpson
2) Angelina Jolie
3) Brad Pitt
4) Tom Cruise
5) Katie Holmes

One of our favorite YourHub.com contributors, a guy named Kelley Robinson, would probably disagree with me. From what he says in his latest column, " The death of individuality," Kel has a real problem with a new MTV show called Why Can't I Be You?, in which a person who sees themselves as a "loser" emulates someone "cool." Kel says the show, and our society, are sending the wrong message to regular people like you and me.

Do you think society is putting the wrong priority on skinny people with perfect teeth, hair and figures? Who should your kids' role models be? Do you think US Weekly is a more reliable source of information than, say, CNN? Check out Kel's column and leave your comments or post a story.

Also, from what I saw when I was in line at King Soopers last week, it looks like Lionel Richie's daughter needs to eat something soon or she's going to die of malnourishment right there on that sunny beach.

Hey Brendan, next time you're at the store, can you grab me some cheddar? Thanks. P.S.-- Maybe Jessica Simpson got 4,270 results when you search for her in google news, but my name got five.

Thank you, William. Though that might have been TMI, I appreciate the analogy.
