THOUSANDS LOST IN BURGLARY
On Feb. 23, officers investigated a burglary at a residence on the 3700 block of South Hazel Court. The resident said he found a front door forced open and several boxes of sporting goods, clothing, jewelry, televisions and cash were stolen. The estimated value of the loss was $15,000. The case was forwarded to detectives.
WOMAN BUSTED FOR SHOPLIFTING
On Feb. 20, officers arrested a female suspect on suspicion of theft for allegedly trying to leave a store on the 3600 block of River Point Parkway with a shopping cart full of merchandise without paying. The value of the merchandise was estimated at $135. The woman was issued a theft summons and released.
GRAFFITI DAMAGE REPORTED
An officer on patrol discovered graffiti vandalism to a concrete wall on the 3100 block of West Hampden Avenue. The wall was sprayed with different colors of paint in five locations. Damage was estimated at $875 and the case was forwarded to the Graffiti Task Force.
SOUTH FEDERAL BUILDING TAGGED
On Feb. 18, an officer on patrol found the south side of a building on the 3400 block of South Federal Boulevard had been tagged with black spray paint in two foot letters. Damage was estimated at $600 and the case was forwarded to the Graffiti Task Force.
