Just saw a show on NGC about the human body; and anyway, it
finally got up to my age. Stress was mentioned as a key component in the aging process. Stress causes high blood pressure, which results in damage to our blood vessels. So, it got me thinking that my job may be killing me. Traffic jams are killing me. Contention and especially those way-too-close Bronco games may be killing me.
Of course, how I react to a situation is totally up to me, so maybe I can handle the stress; but there are those folks out there that do get stressed out. Traffic is causing road rage; road rage causes harm; harm causes traffic tickets, and court appearences cause even more stress. Sometimes I think the ultimate plan is that we all die on the day that we retire. It would definitely solve the social security financial problems.
My brother (who is famous for his somewhat corny lines with our nieces and nephews) likes to say: "The more white in your bread; the closer you are to dead." So now I have one:
"The more stress you let in your head, the sooner you'll be dead."
And one more:
"If you let contention fester in your home, the sooner you'll be alone."
Tuesday add-on: The Science Channel had a show about Fear causing a heart attack. Evidently a man in his 40s died when his subway booth was broken into and robbed. I would assume that he may have had aged veins already, but the fear was the main contributer to his death. So, this was an intentional act that killed this man (although the cause-of-death was written as a heart attack).
So, it got me thinking, what if someone jumped out and yelled "BOO;" and caused a death. The act of yelling would be intential, but the aftermath was unintentional. What if someone went out drinking (intentional), got impaired (could be intentional or unintentional), and then accidently hit and killed someone (unintentional). This happens way too often; and sadly, the law doesn't take into account someone's intentions. It's a two-dimensional system; black and white with no shades of gray. It's possible that someday, a young halloween pranker will be charged with causing the death of an elderly person that had lived many long-stressful years--all because they said "
boo."
