Description:

Thornton Community Band (TCB) proudly announces its 2009-2010 concert season, debuting November 5 th with its "Colors" program. Dubbed "Thornton's Newest Music Sensation" by Inside Thornton Magazine, TCB's concerts are free to the public, with donations welcome.

The November 5th, 2009 "Colors" program includes two must-see features:

"Masque of the Red Death," an original composition by TCB member Ryan Powell. Inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe short story of the same name, this piece "is dark and powerful-a perfect complement to our talented brass and percussion sections, with intricate woodwind parts ranging from delicate to frenzied that will prove an excellent showcase of our skilled woodwind players," commented Powell, who re-scored the original composition specifically for TCB's instrumentation and strengths.

"Colors," by Bert Appermont. The cornerstone of the program's theme, this multi-movement suite highlights a masterful trombone solo performance by Dr. Hoyt Andres of Metropolitan State College of Denver.

The November 5th program also includes Sousa's "Black Horse Troop," Percy Grainger's "Green Bushes," and Clare Grundman's "The Blue and The Gray," among other color-themed works.

TCB invites you to join them for the "Colors" concert, November 5th at 7:30pm:

Skyview High School Auditorium
8990 York Street
Denver, CO 80229
