People who inspired you (and how): My childhood neighbor and adopted grandmother is my hero-Myrtle Wagerman, "Lady". She accepted my three older sisters and me, when we were very young children, and loved us with such an unconditional love, and made our childhood so rich with attention, food, and gifts, that all of us will never forget her kindness and generosity. I will always view life through the lessons she taught me.
How you have contributed to the community: I've been very much involved with my church and with the Adams County Republican Party through the years. With my church, I've been in bands, (I play the drums) and in music ministry; I've been on the drama team; I've worked with the teens; I've worked with the children ministry; feeding the homeless and I've helped with the half-way house ministry. With the Republicans, I've been an election judge, I'm a committee person for precinct 83, I'm a District Captain, and currently, I'm the Chairman for House District 32. I'm the Program Chairman for the Adams County Chapter of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly, I'm a member of the Colorado Republican Business Coalition, and I'm a bonus member with the Colorado GOP State Central Committee.
What are the biggest issues facing your constituency now: The high price of energy and the uncertainty of the economy are on everybody's mind. Locally, trust and confidence in public officials to do the right thing on behalf of taxpayers is right at the top, along with eminent domain, taxation, job creation, transportation, and public safety are all big issues in Adams County.
