On Tuesday, September 15, imagine seeing three, full-sized fire trucks painted pink pulling a 10' prefabricated ribbon in honor of all individuals battling cancer coming down I-25 -this is the Pink Heals Tour. A group of off-duty professional fire fighters from Phoenix, Arizona, known as the "Guardians of the Ribbon" are travelling across the United States this summer being hosted by various fire departments to help spread the word of support and early detection!
There will be four major stops for the Pink Heals Tour for the Denver Metro area. The public is encouraged to attend any of these four,
freeevents. Individuals who are currently battling cancer or have survived it are encouraged to come out and sign one of the three trucks as a national statement of the impact of this terrible disease before it heads out to its next stop in Topeka, Kansas.
7:00 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. Hosted by Arvada Fire Department at Home Depot (52 nd & Wadsworth)-"Morning Coffee Break" free Starbucks will be provided to all visitors and breakfast treats. Come by on your commute to work and sign the truck and bring your camera.
9:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Hosted by Thornton Fire Department and North Suburban Medical Center (9191 Grant Street, Thornton) - "Meet and Greet" free education materials, free food and activities, and meet the "Guardians of the Ribbon" to sign the truck. Fundraising opportunities for the Susan G. Komen Foundation - sponsor a carnation to be delivered or sponsor Memorial Sign to be displayed in honor of your loved lost to cancer.
12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Hosted by North Washington Fire Protection District at Station 1 (8055 North Washington Street, Denver)-"Fire Station Open House" Fire station and truck tours. Free snacks and activities. Meet the "Guardians of the Ribbon" and have your photo taken with the crew all dressed in their pink bunker gear.
4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Hosted by North Metro Fire Rescue District at The Village at FlatIron Crossing (FlatIron Crossing Drive and Interlocken Loop, Broomfield)-"Pink Heals Tour '09" wrap up your day with a free live concert by Circle of Willis, hear inspirational breast cancer testimonials, receive free educational materials on self-examinations, register for FREE mammograms by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Breast Cancer Network of Strength, and take the opportunity to meet the Guardians of the Ribbon and sign their trucks. In addition, Broomfield Mayor Patrick Quinn and Colorado State Representative Dianne Primavera will present proclamations of behalf of Broomfield County and the State of Colorado for the Pink Heals Tour event!
