I have a question for Ask Dot.
When is Thornton going to step up and complete the widening of 120th Avenue between Holly Street and Quebec Street? They have been waiting for funding for at least five years. What's happening with this street improvement?
Russ Pierce
Brighton
Russ,
We asked David Nighswonger, director of public works for the city of Thornton, and he said the design is complete and the project will go out to bid next month. Construction is expected to start in August and last approximately 12 months. The city has budgeted about $3.6 million.
Nighswonger said the project will widen that stretch from one lane in each direction to two lanes in each direction, with a left turning lane in the middle. At no point will 120th Avenue be totally closed to traffic.
For further questions citizens are asked to contact Pete Brezall, project manager for city of Thornton, at 720-977-6251.
