Why were there so many police officers in my neighborhood on Friday night, July 25th at about 10:00 p.m.? I live off on the west side of 97th & Huron. My son and I were on our way home and we suddenly realized we were invaded by what seemed like the entire Thornton Police Department.
Were the local neighborhood residents in immediate danger? Under what circumstances wouldthe local police start doing reverse 911 calls to warn residents to stay inside? As many police as we saw the situation seemed very serious, yet we readnothing in the newpaper nor heard nothing on the news?

Edie:
The Thornton Police Department's spokesman Matt Barnes said there was no incident that matched the one you described.
As per your question about when the police utilizes reverse 911 calls, it will in the following instances: emergency situations including evacuations, missing person's if the person is at risk or in danger, hazardous material leaks, natural disasters, wanted persons if they are considered armed and dangerous, homeland security issues or neighborhood emergency instances, which are instances were the public would be in danger in any way.
