Ask Dot: Disappearing Restaurant

We used to patronize a restaurant located at 88th Avenue and Washington Street called Lolito's.

They had the very best Mexican food around. One day we were going for dinner, and the place was shut down with no explanation as to why it was gone. Can you tell me if they have relocated or just disappeared into thin air? I hope that you have a happy answer for me, because we sure could use some of their good food again!

Well Betty, we have some good news for you. The owner of Lolito's Burritos, Greg Muniz, has plans to open another restaurant not far from the original location.

Lolito's was purchased by the city of Thornton and torn down Nov. 12, 2004 so the area could be redeveloped. You can read more about that project by clicking here.

Muniz recently purchased a parcel of land near the intersection of 85th Avenue and Washington Street to open Lolito's II. The new Lolito's, which is scheduled to open in late summer or early fall of this year, will be much smaller than the original restaurant but the menu will basically stay the same.

Muniz is still working on obtaining a building permit from the city. Until then, you’re just going to have to do without those delicious smothered burritos Thornton residents have fallen in love with.
