Ask Dot: When will 120th Ave. extension wrap up?

They have been working on the 120th Avenue extension from 120th and Holly in Thornton to Highway 85 in Commerce City (it includes a huge bridge over the river) for 2 or 3 years it seems.

I cannot anywhere find a projected completion date. I do think the project is behind schedule but somebody must know when its going to be finished.

Can you find out ?

Thanks for the question, Merlyn. We know the stretch of road you’re talking about because we have been caught in that tangled detour that eventually spits motorists out near the Adams County Fairgrounds.
But we have good news for you.

According to Adams County Engineering Manager Besharah Najjar, the project is expected to wrap up in July of 2006. The 120th Avenue extension project, which includes the addition of five new bridges, will finally give motorists an alternative to taking 104th Avenue.

It will be two lanes wide in both directions and will stretch from Quebec Street to U.S. Highway 85.
