Pat Collins, Thornton
We've been wondering that here at YourHub.com too, Pat. You see, the bridge at 144th Avenue at I-25 has been under construction since the end of October 2005. They are upgrading 144th to four lanes and also serving the northern metro area by creating an additional access point to those neighborhoods.
The project is being completely funded by the cities of Thornton and Westminster without any funding from the federal or state government. The bridge is currently slated to open at the end of August 2006.
As for I-25 and 128th Avenue, we placed a call to
Dick Kellogg, the Westminster senior projects engineer. According to Mr. Kellogg, the area, which will be closed until August 10, is undergoing a number of improvements.
First, they are widening Huron Street from 125th Avenue to 128th Avenue and adding sidewalk in this area. He also said that they are raising the road bed at 128th Avenue, all to serve the needs of Mountain Range High School at 125th Avenue and Huron Street. Mr. Kellogg also said that the improvements to 128th Avenue are being done now for a future bridge replacement project at 128th Avenue and I-25, scheduled to begin next year.
