West Metro Fire Rescue is a full-service career fire department providing fire, medical, and rescue response, along with prevention education to more than 265,000 people in the suburbs west of Denver. The 15 fire stations in operation throughout our 110-square mile district respond to approximately 25,000 emergencies each year, of which 68% of those are medical emergencies. Each engine is staffed with a minimum of 3-4 fire fighters and 2 fire fighters / paramedics staff each ambulance. This is accomplished by hiring qualified men and women and training them in various advanced life support techniques. About 67% of our fire fighters are Fire Medics.
West Metro provides specialized teams proficient in wildland fire fighting, dive rescue, technical rescue, TEMS, EMS, and hazardous materials management. We are also the sponsoring agency for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Colorado Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue team.

A $45 non refundable processing fee can be paid online by credit card or by check / money order made payable to West Metro Fire Protection District. Physical Ability Test -tests can be scheduled between 6/7/2008 - 10/12/2008. Testing on 10/12/2008 is reserved for out of state applicants. Please call 303-539-9545 to leave a message to schedule an appointment. One re-take will be allowed for a $30 fee. The highest score will be used.

Written Test -Written testing will take place on 10/11/2008. Recommended reading and study guides are available. Please refer to

Oral Boards -Candidates will be chosen, based on written and physical test scores, to proceed to the Oral Board exams 11/3/2008 - 11/14/2008. Those candidates selected will be notified by Certified Mail.

All offers are contingent on: Successful completion of a medical exam administered by a West Metro physician, polygraph test, psychological exam, background investigation, and chemical testing for drugs or alcohol.
