Adams 12 Alumni of the Week
Contributed by: Janis Johnson on 5/18/2007

Name: Janis Johnson - Maiden Name: Janis Cecil
I attended Huron Jr. High and Northglenn High School, where I graduated in 1974. Both of my sons, Ben (Thornton HS - 1999) and Jeremiah (Legacy HS - 2005), attended District 12 schools, as well as my daughter-in-law, Angela Feola Johnson (Northglenn HS - 2001).
I currently teach 7th grade World Geography at Century Middle School, and American and World History at High Plains High School in Adams 12. I have been employed by District 12 for 24 years, and also taught school in Waipahu, Hawaii for 3 years, where my husband and I were stationed while he was in the Marine Corps.
My hobbies include traveling, being with my family and doing activites with them, and watching my youngest son's college football games.
My fondest memory of Adams 12 is attending all of the sporting events and cheering for the teams, and also meeting at the DECA with friends during our off class hours.
I had several inspirational teachers while in school. In junior high, it was Peggy Cruth, and in high school it was Joan Severns. These two lovely ladies inspired me to become a teacher, and I have always felt I made the correct career choice.
