Congratulations to Cassie Gallegos of Skyview Academy for being selected as a 2008 Boettcher Scholarship recipient!
The Boettcher Scholarship is the most prestigious merit-based scholarship available to graduating high school seniors in Colorado. The purpose of the scholarship is to seek out Colorado's best and brightest students to attend a college within the state.
The scholarship covers all four years of college expenses with the option of covering a fifth year if the recipient decides to acquire a master's degree as well. A $2,800 living stipend is also supplied to help defray the cost of room and board. The total amount of the Scholarship depends on a number of factors, including the cost of a Scholar's institution, and can range from $35,000 to approximately $150,000.
Cassie is a senior at Skyview Academy with a GPA of 4.0, which puts her in the running for valedictorian of this year's 2008 graduating class. She is also an avid community service member at Valley View Elementary where she excelled in the early years of her education. With her passion for community service, Cassie plans to study social work in the fall at the University of Denver where she has already been accepted. She is also planning to minor in Spanish and Journalism, just two of her many passions.
With Cassie being the first person in her family to attend college, her mother and grandparents couldn't be more excited. "We are just so thrilled for Cassie that she is receiving this opportunity," said her mother, Sharon Gallegos. "We couldn't be more proud of her." With the amazing support of Cassie's family, it is evident that Cassie is in store for many great achievements. Her undying commitment and dedication to academics will surely pave the way to success in whatever she decides to undertake.
Good Luck Cassie and Congratulations Again!! Mapleton Is SO Proud of You and Thank You For All of Your Efforts in Giving Back to Your School Community!!
