Shadow Ridge student named All-American Scholar

The United States Achievement Academy announced that Jessica Piccone of Thornton has been named an All-American Scholar.

The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3 or high grade point average. Only scholars selected by a a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor are accepted.

Piccone, who attends Shadow Ridge Middle School, was nominated for this national award by sixth-grade science teacher Kris Van Bladeren.

Piccone will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.

"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America's history. Certainly, winners of the All-American Scholar Award should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement," said Dr. George Stevens, Founder of the United State Achievement Academy.

Piccone is the daughter of Ray and Buffy Piccone of Thornton. Grandparents are Dan and Zelma Piccone of Thornton and Carol O'Leary of Marshall, Mo.
