Local artists to show work at city hall
Contributed by: City of Thornton on 1/23/2008

THORNTON, CO... The Thornton Community Artist Exhibit kicks off the new year by featuring work from Thornton artists Jean Barban and Lena Eason.

Barban is primarily a landscape painter and uses oil paints on linen boards. "She likes to take a scene and exaggerate its color," says Thornton Volunteer Coordinator Linda Lowe. "Her work suggests the subject matter with the paint strokes."

Easton worked as a barista and coffee café manager and now uses 100% coffee as a medium to capture portraits. "She finds the monochromatic simplicity very satisfying," says Lowe.

Thornton's Thornton Community Artist Exhibit showcases the talents of the citizens of the City of Thornton. The exhibit rotates every two months and is displayed in the City Development building northwest entrance of City Hall. Works by Barban and Easton will be on display through March 7.

The Thornton Community Artist Exhibit is supported by the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO). For more information about the program or to display artwork in a future exhibit, contact Linda Lowe at 720-977-5866.
