If you missed the Flamenco Extravaganza last year, don't miss it this year. The Flamenco Society of Colorado will begin the new season with, A Night of Flamenco to be presented this year at 7:30 p.m. April 29th a the Ranum Auditorium Theater, 80th and Zuni. This fabulous concert is being presented by the North Metro Arts Alliance and is for one night only!
This show has been completely sold out for the last two seasons and is considered one of the best flamenco shows in town. This concert presents flamenco puro at its best. The world famous guitarist " Chuscales" is the center point of this musical evening of flamenco.
This year will be the first time to present one of the best flamenco male dancers from Spain,
Juan del Valle
, guest singer
Felix de Lola
, guest dancer
Mina Fajardo
and the multi-talented singer percussionist, "
El Yiyi
". These great artists will join together for an intimate night of flamenco.
The North Metro Arts Alliance the Colorado Flamenco Society and
Jeannette Trujillo-Lucero
, a nationally acclaimed dancer and instructor of Spanish and Flamenco dance here in Denver, will bring together this magical performance of the professional flamencos in Colorado with the mastery of Chuscales and company of performers. Trujillo will again pull together a world-class troupe for a stunning and awe-inspiring, showcase of Flamenco cante (song), baile (dance), and toque (guitar).
The concert will present all of the deep facets of the art of flamenco. A true taste of southern Spain's Andalucia gypsy's most famous art form is guaranteed. The performance will provide a smattering of Flamenco styles, including Bulerias, Alegrias, and the sensual, haunting, Leyenda.
For flamenco aficionados and nuevo flamenco fans, this is the show to see.
This flamenco musical production will include also include flamenco dancer
Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero
, guitarist and percussionist
Steve Mullins
, well known for his own flamenco productions throughout Colorado and cajon player
Rudi Monterroso
. Together they will bring traditional flamenco into the new the age of the modern sounds of flamenco.
"This will be a night of fabulous music and Spanish inspiration," says Trujillo. "I really want to present the best of what I can to Denver, this setting is intimate and personal and will allow the performers and the audience to experience the true magic of what flamenco has to offer."
The flamenco show was the featured front cover of the
Cultural Times Magazine
this last July and received fabulous reviews. This year the program will even be better because for the first time we are bringing in the fabulous male dancer,
Juan del Valle
.
"After 25 years of teaching and performing in Colorado, I want to finally establish that Spanish dance is a vital, important part of our heritage here," Trujillo said."We do not have to go out of state or overseas to enjoy this art form. We are able to see some of the world's finest and most dedicated musicians and dancers right here in our own backyard."
Trujillo's mission to continue to present at least one flamenco collaboration program per year with outside artists. Spanish dance is a very important part of our culture and is one of the base roots and influences of the Colorado people.
"I sincerely believe that the Hispanic Artists in Denver need to work together and recognize that Denver is a sophisticated audience with a taste and appreciation for the Spanish arts and that we have a select group of professional flamenco dancers and musicians representing the art form of flamenco right here in Colorado," Trujillo said. "Of course, in order for us to continue this beautiful art form and present flamenco programs, we do need for the community to support us.
This year, Fiesta Colorado is proud to be supported by the SCFD, The Scientific Cultural Facilities District, and is sponsored by the Hispanic voice of Colorado, La Voz Nueva Newspaper and La Quinta Inns. We are also thankful for the support of many other individuals and organizations.
The mission of the Fiesta Colorado Flamenco Society is about the very important aspect of preserving the Hispanic cultures for all people to enjoy.
