A mile of smiles around Webster Lake

A MILE OF SMILES AROUND WEBSTER LAKE

Luminarias won't be the only thing lining the path around the lake at the Northglenn Webster Lake Relay for Life on September 6 and 7, 2008. Relay teams are selling "smiley faces" for $1 and all these faces will be placed around Webster Lake to make a Mile of Smiles. Purchasers can put either their own name as a supporter or the name of a loved one on the face. They will signify "Faces of Hope" for a Cure for Cancer.

The traditional American Cancer Luminarias (bags with a lighted candle in it) are quite impressive as they are placed around Webster Lake and are lighted at dusk, staying bright all night. Each luminaria bag will have the name of a loved one on it and sells for $10 each. It's a wonderful way to honor family or friends who have or had cancer or in memory of those who lost their life to cancer. A special luminaria ceremony honoring all those remembered with luminarias will be at dusk (8 to 8:30 p.m.) on September 6 and the public is invited to attend. Proceeds from both the faces and luminarias go to the American Cancer Society.

To find out how to purchase a "smiley face" or a luminaria, or to get any other information about the Webster Lake Relay for Life, call Marge at 303-452-0264 or e-mail rflwebsterlake@yahoo.com.
