Ever Wondered What a Mile of Money Looks Like?
Contributed by: Craig Wilkening on 7/23/2008

The Horizon High School Music Department is planning a "Mile of Money" fundraiser on Saturday, August 9th. The event will take place at the intersection of 120th and Colorado Boulevard from 9am to 4pm. The goal is to encourage drivers coming through that intersection to drive into the Kohl's parking lot and donate to the Horizon Music Department. The drop off donations are similiar to what is done by the fire department during Labor Day weekend for Muscular Dystrophy and Jerry's Kids. For every dollar that is donated, a "fake" dollar will be attached to a rope line that will be strung along 120th Avenue. The idea is to see how far down the street the dollars will go, to see what a 'mile of money' looks like. Members of the Horizon marching band, jazz bands, and choirs will be present at select points around the intersection and performing various songs throughout the day.
As you know, educational budgets are shrinking and now more than ever, it is becoming more difficult for music departments to operate effectively. Funds are always needed for equipment, travel, and other operating expenses. We would like to invite everyone to come out to the intersection of 120th and Colorado on Saturday, August 9th to enjoy some good music and to help the music program at Horizon High School.
