E-470 toll attendants collect Food Bank donations
Contributed by: Melissa Hernandez on 11/21/2008

Another kind of "drive" on E-470 - holiday season collections start Monday, November 24

E-470 customers can help those in need this holiday season by dropping off non-perishable food items and monetary donations with toll attendants at all five E-470 toll plazas beginning Monday, November 24. Running through December 19, the drive will benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies, in support of hundreds of programs that help low-income seniors, families, victims of domestic violence and the homeless. Checks should be made payable to the Food Bank of the Rockies.

E-470's collection program is in cooperation with Mile High Toll Services, E-470's toll operations contractor.

The same effort last year resulted in the collection of more than 2,790 food donations and $10,520 in cash from E-470's customers as well as employees of E-470 and Mile High Toll Services.

Canned items, such as meats, soups or vegetables are much in need, as are dried goods--pasta, cereal and pancake mixes. Items in plastic containers, for instance, jelly, peanut butter, and juice are needed. Glass containers are less desired, but will be accepted.

E-470 is a tollway that runs along the eastern perimeter of the Denver metropolitan area. The 70-mph highway extends 47 miles from State Highway C-470 at I-25 in Douglas County, to near 160 th Avenue in Thornton.
