The lights are glowing on Glencoe Street
Contributed by: Ray Cardenas on 12/4/2006

My wife Katie and I have been married 7 years now and have decorated our house for every one of those years except for one -- last year. Katie suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and last year it was just too hard for her to help with the normal climbing up and down ladders and all the other steps necessary to accomplish what we do in getting our house decorated for the Christmas season. So, we decided to skip last year -- this was hard on both of us as we really do enjoy doing what we do -- it's our way of 'giving back' to the community.

In the last year, due to advances in modern medicine and the grace of God, her arthritis is back under control and we have been able to resume our 'normal' lives.

As we both work, it takes us approximately a month to get everything set up and ready to 'turn on' -- we started the day after Halloween. This year, because of the unseasonably warm weather during November, we were able to finish ahead of schedule and officially 'flipped the switch' on Monday, Nov. 27.

Our greatest rewards are the looks on the faces of the children (and even some of the parents) when they drive by to see our decorated house.

Stop by and say hi, or honk, so we can wave.

Happy Holidays --

Great lookin display. I'll be around to see it. -- Ray, I've been checking the news websites and yourhub.com for good looking light displays to photograph, and last night I got to yours. Wow, it is really terrific. You have put a lot of displays into not a lot of space, but it is really a feast for the eyes. I couldn't get it all in one photo, and people need to see it for themselves to really appreciate it. Great work.

WOW! We're impressed. You've outdone yourselves (& the Smiths') this year. Just wait though - Arnold is not about to be left in the dust/snow. Stop by when you breeze thru on I-90.

Nice story and great pics. So glad to hear Katie's doing better. God bless you both and Merry Christmas. From the looks of these pics you can probably see your house from space!

We're good friends of Ray and Katie and see their holiday light display every year. We plan on telling all our kids about this year's display so they will drop by to see it. Keep up the good work, Ray & Katie.

Ray & Katie are my brother & sis-in-law -- I was lucky enough to be in Denver this last weekend (for the game) (Go Seahawks!) and got to see their decorated house in person -- the pics truly DO NOT do it justice -- Do drive by if you get the chance. Merry Christmas!
