Thornton Celebrates 50 Years in 2006!

The City of Thornton turns 50 this year! Check out our new City of Thornton history Web site at cityofthornton.net/50th_anniversary/.

We are going to have a year-long celebration with different events and activities that people can participate in and attend such as City Wide Tree Planting, Flower Bed Planting, Hispanic Heritage Week, Golden Hall of Fame Reception, Thorntonfest (extended to two days),
Reception to Commemorate the City's Incorporation, 50th Anniversary Open House & Reception, Independence Day Celebration, Trivia Day at the Thornton Senior Center, Harvest Fest & Parade, Veteran's Day event, and WinterFest (extended to three days.)

Volunteers are also needed for various committees and to help with the events. The committees are:
-History Sub-Committee
-Historical Cookbook Sub-Committee
-Historical Coloring Book Sub-Committee
-Parade Sub-Committee
-Business Sub-Committee
-Golden Hall of Fame Sub-Committee
-Civic Group Sub-Committee
-Veteran's Sub-Committee
