Richard "Lee" and Carol Beckler, of Thornton, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Sept. 24. They were married in Denver at the First Bethany Lutheran church on Sept. 24, 1955.
They met when Richard was in the Air Force and stationed at Lowry Air Base. They have four children, sons, Timothy of Hillsbro, Oregon, and his wife Linda. Thomas and his wife, Jan live in Thornton. Daughters, Janet Molina, her husband Ruben, Peggy Riley and her husband William. Four grandchildren, Amanda, her husband, Fred Knight, Eric Quinn, Daniel and
Halley Riley. They have two great-grand children, Shaelynn and Damiyen Knight all of Thornton.
Richard retired from Roadway Trucking Company and is a member of the Northglenn Elks No. 2438. They moved to Thornton in 1969 and have lived in Loma Linda Estates since then. They owned and operated Jody's Flower Basket in Thornton from 1970 to 1984.
Carol has been very active in the community, almost 4 years ago winning the election of councilmember in Thornton for Ward 1, and is now campaigning for the next four.
On Sept. 25, an open house will be given by their children at Mountain View Lutheran Church, on Fir and Russell Drive, in Thornton from 2-4 p.m. and invite friends and family to attend.
