Garcias celebrate 55 years of marriage

Joe and Amy Garcia, of Thornton, married in Denver on May 26, 1951, when they were 21 years old and will now be celebrating their 55th anniversary.

Joe Garcia worked for the Denver Housing Authority for 32 and a half years, retiring 19 years ago at age 57. He was born in Trinidad.

Amy Garcia was born in Denver. She was a beautician and salon owner for 31 years.

The Garcias started traveling on their honeymoon and reached 43 countries and 45 states. Their favorite locales were Norway, Canada, Israel and Monaco.

They have two children.

Gary Garcia of Thornton attended Colorado State University and now works for United Airlines.

Patti Jo Garcia-Glover graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is married to Dr. Donald Kingsbury Glover, Jr. and they live in Farmington, N.M.

Grandchildren are attorney Christopher K. Glover of Austin, Texas; engineer Dawn Kimberly Glover of Raleigh, N.C. and Holly Ann Glover of Farmington.
