County announces Golden Glow winners

HENDERSON -- Adams County is pleased to announce the recipients of the19th Golden Glow Volunteer Recognition and Awards Ceremony, which took place recently at the Adams County Regional Park.

The purpose of the Golden Glow Awards is to recognize outstanding services contributed by Adams County residents who volunteer at local food pantries and food assistance centers. The awards also highlight the contributions made by local supermarkets, businesses and schools that play a role in providing food to 12,500 families in need of food assistance in Adams County. Nearly 400 volunteers from local food pantries and other county food network agencies attended the event. Categories included Outstanding Volunteer, Outstanding Youth Award, Distinguished Service Award, Lifetime Achievement and Spirit of Community Service Award.

Persons receiving Outstanding Volunteer Awards included: Juan Duran, Rick Drury, Sarah Piland, Amanda Garcia, Kathy Smith, Judy Ezzell, Jerry Kloberdanz, Ann Hamilton, Evelyn Moran, Debbie and Harry Francis, Mary Garcia, Louise Uliberri, Claire Thomas, Pat Hendricks and Bea and Herb Walzemeyer.

Adams City High School Transition Youth received the Outstanding Youth Award.

Distinguished Service Awards went to the Dale Domben family and Lynn Heintzman.

Jack Whittier, Matilde "Tillie" Martinez and Thelma Darr received Lifetime Achievement Awards.

COMPA Food Ministries and CEO Rick Rank accepted the Spirit of Community Award.
