Local CASA Volunteers Recognized

CASA of Adams and BroomfieldCounties Celebrates National Volunteer Appreciation Week with its 7 th Annual Volunteer Awards Banquet.


CASA of Adams and BroomfieldCounties hosted its Seventh Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on April 25, 2008. CASA of Adams and BroomfieldCounties is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that trains, supports and supervises community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of innocent child victims of abuse and neglect. Each year, in Adams and BroomfieldCounties, there are over 1,500 children who have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused or neglected, and who are in desperate need of a caring, committed CASA Volunteer.


CASA of Adams and BroomfieldCounties have over 100 volunteers who give nearly 10,000 hours of their time each year to children in our communities. The banquet is held every year to thank our volunteers for their countless hours of service and dedication to the children of Adams and BroomfieldCounties. Several volunteers and individuals who work with CASA were honored at this years' event. Award winners are as follows:

Educational Advocacy Award - Neola Roberts, Broomfield

Broomfield Health and Human Services Award - Denise Garrison, Broomfield

Adams County Social Services Department Award- Ann Beckerman, Brighton

Broomfield Mayor's Award- Dave Kusel, Broomfield

AdamsCounty Commissioner's Award - Joan Kniss, Brighton

Governor's Award - Sharon Williams, Highlands Ranch.

CASA Volunteer of the Year - Ann Beckerman, Brighton


Community Awards

Community Champion for Children - Diane Baird, Private Licensed Social Worker

Caseworker of the Year - Lori Sundrup, Adams County Social Services Department

Guardian ad Litem of the Year - Laurie Clark, Esq.

Judge of the Year - Honorable Judge Kathy Delgado, 17 th Judicial District


Executive Director, Simone Jones, Brighton, was also presented an award by her staff in recognition of her dedication to the organization.
