Two arrested and charged for June 15 homicide

The Adams County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged two adults in connection with the June 14, 2008 homicide that occurred at 13444 Kennedy Avenue, unincorporated Adams County. The Adams County District Attorney's Office has reviewed the case with the Sheriff's Office and is filing charges against Laura Carole Childress, 37, of Brighton, Colorado and Chase Andrew McGraw, 18, no address listed, for First Degree Murder for the death of 78-year-old Brighton resident Bob Moreland. Childress and McGraw have also been charged with First Degree Arson and other criminal offenses related to this incident.

Bob Moreland was found dead in his residence after emergency personnel responded to a smoke investigation and found Mr. Moreland's house on fire.

Childress and McGraw are being held at the Adams County Detention Facility without bond. There will be an initial court appearance and advisal of charges for Childress and McGraw on July 23, 2008 at 8:30 a.m., in Division G of the Adams County Courthouse.
