Doug Darr announced the Adams County Sheriff's Office has implemented the use of the VINE/SAVIN Program. The program is an automated service that allows citizens to access custody information twenty-four-hours-a-day, via telephone or internet. This innovative service provides crime victims and other concerned citizens free and confidential notification regarding a particular inmate's release, transfer or escape from participating agencies.
VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday and SAVIN is the acronym for Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification. Sheriff Darr stated, "Protecting the citizens of Adams County is our primary goal and our highest priority. In order to be more effective and responsive to the members of our community, we have added the VINE/SAVIN Program. This system is instrumental in keeping our victims informed on the custodial status of an offender. We always try to assist our victims and citizens and we are hopeful this service will offer them some peace of mind by knowing the current status of an offender is accessible to them, whenever there is a change in the custodial status or whenever they want to inquire."
To inquire about an offender's status you may call 1-888-263-8463. You will be asked to provide the name or booking number of the person you are inquiring about. After the system provides the relevant custody information, it will ask if you would like to register to be automatically notified when the offender is released or transferred. Those choosing to register will then asked to provide a phone number and a four-digit personal identification number (PIN), which will be used later when a notification call is received. Operator assistance is also available twenty-four-hours-a-day if additional help is required or for anyone having additional questions. Citizens can also go on line at www.vinelink.com to register and obtain the custodial information.
