Candidate Profile: Eva Henry
Contributed by: Eva Henry on 9/21/2007

My name: Eva Henry

Age: 46

My family: My son Maurice, age 27, has served his country in the U.S. Army for ten years. My Daughter Danielle, age 24, works on labor issues. My fiance and cherished friend Steve, has been my greatest supporter.

What I do: I have worked in the finance industry for over 18 years.

My favorite place in town to hang out: I love Thornton's parks and trails.

What I like most about living here: I like the hard working families that share Thornton with me.

My interests and hobbies: Photography, travel, and history.

What is my favorite thing to cook: My father was a baker. I love to bake. When I bake, it brings a lot of wonderful memories of baking with him.

People who inspired me (and how): My children inspire me. As a struggling single mother my children had a lot of adversities to overcome. They have become beautiful, productive adults who encourage me to achieve more in life.

How I have contributed to the community: I have been an advocate for health care reform and have testified in front of the State Legislators. I belong to the School Improvement Team. for the Bollman Center in District 12, Volunteers of America, Adams County Youth Initiative, Thornton Veterans Memorial, and I am a Transit Alliance Alumni.

What are the biggest issues facing your city now: The deterioration of our Southern neighborhoods. Some areas were found to be blighted in 1982. The lack of fire protection in some of our neighborhoods, and the loss of tax revenue in our city.
