The City of Thornton's Water Resources Division is launching an exciting campaign to engage and involve the residents of Thornton in voluntarily saving precious water resources. Thornton residents can get involved by "taking the pledge" to be water saving champions by saving 10 gallons of water each day.
The campaign will debut at the Water Resources tent at Thorntonfest on May 19. The initial focus of the campaign will be on outdoor water conservation but will transition throughout the year to include indoor water conservation.
As we all know, water in Colorado is a valuable resource. In the past, Thornton and other Front Range communities have had to implement mandatory restrictions to conserve their water supply. The City of Thornton is working hard to avoid mandatory restrictions by including residents as partners in its effort to maintain a healthy water supply for the community.
The campaign will include:
• Raising awareness about the need for water conservation in Thornton.
• Listening to and working with residents to work collectively on maintaining the community's water supply.
• Providing practical ways that every household in Thornton can conserve water outdoors and indoors.
• Getting involved in the community to provide information and reinforce how to save water.
• Promoting incentives for water saving actions such as rebates and other services.
Come see the additional information about the 2007 Thornton Water Drive at ThorntonFest on May 19! Residents can sign up to be water saving champions at
www.cityofthornton.net
after ThorntonFest.
