If you've ever wanted to give back to your community, consider serving on a City Board or Commission. The City of Thornton is currently accepting applications for the following Boards and Commissions:
* Building Code Advisory Board - hears and renders decisions on
written appeals
of rulings made by the Building and Code Director pertaining to City Building Codes.
* Development Permits and Appeals Board - holds public hearings on applications for Development Permits and Variances to Chapter 18 of the City Code.
* Election Commission - makes ward reapportionment recommendations and establishes City election precincts.
* Local Licensing Authority - reviews and acts on new applications, transfer of ownership, renewals, and more for 3.2% Beer and Liquor Licensed establishments.
* Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission - makes recommendations to City Council regarding the updating of the Parks and Open Space Master Plan and projects funded by the open space and parks sales and use tax.
* Senior Citizen Advisory Board - advises Council on matters impacting the needs and interests of senior citizens.
* Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) Board of Directors - advises and makes recommendations to City Council regarding budgeting and master planning for visual and performing arts, science and history programming/projects in the City.
