Thornton hosts Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Contributed by: Lisa Wilson City of Thornton on 3/6/2008

Volunteers needed to help clean-up and repair homes on April 26

Thornton is a city that supports its neighbors, this year the City is looking for 80 volunteers to participate in the 2nd annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors community event. Last year was a true success with more than 130 volunteers repairing two homes owned by senior citizens and helping to clean up the surrounding neighborhoods.

Help us make this year even better by contributing one Saturday helping those most in need. The goal is to repair the homes of three deserving Thornton residents. City of Thornton staff, Keep Thornton Beautiful, and the Denver Metro North Rotary Club have stepped up and will be recruiting volunteers.

"We are actively recruiting volunteers from Thornton, civic organizations, faith-based groups, and local businesses," says Thornton Policy Planner Susanna Sotelo. "It's also a great way to get to know your neighbors and build bonds in our community."

Anyone who wants to volunteer is welcome, no construction skills are needed - just a great attitude and willingness to help. We need you to make the 2nd annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors community event a true success!

Please contact Susanna Sotelo at 303-538-7587 for additional information or go to www.cityofthornton.net to register. This event is brought to you by the City of Thornton and Rebuilding Together Metro Denver.
