The
Pink Heals Tour is coming to the City of Thornton on
Tuesday, September 15. As part of its efforts to increase breast cancer awareness and raise money to fight the disease, the Thornton Fire Department is hosting an event featuring the pink fire engines that are part of the Pink Heals Tour. The huge pink fire engines will be in Thornton at the North Suburban Medical Center, 9191 Grant Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tents will be set up where people can receive educational information about breast cancer.
The Thornton Fire Department will also use this event to promote its
Cares Enough to Wear Pink promotion. On October 24, firefighters, traveling in red fire trucks, will deliver bouquets of pink carnations to up to 250 recipients. Flowers are provided by Floral Designs by Jeanne and DebBee's Garden. You can register to have flowers delivered to someone who is battling or survived cancer by going to www.ciytofthornton.net . The cost is $20 and all proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
