With the opening of the new ramp from eastbound I-270 to eastbound I-76, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) can now permanently close the ramp from southbound I-25 to eastbound I-76 as motorists can now exit onto eastbound I-270 from southbound I-25 to access eastbound I-76. On Monday, August 18th around 10 p.m., CDOT will permanently close the ramp requiring motorists to use eastbound I-270 to access eastbound I-76.
In addition to the permanent ramp closure from southbound I-25 to eastbound I-76, CDOT will have various overnight ramp closures and single lane closures for barrier removal and striping.
The following closures will take place on Sunday, August 17th through Thursday, August 21st, weather permitting:
o Eastbound US 36 between Federal Boulevard and I-25: One lane of eastbound US 36 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
o Southbound I-25 between 84th Avenue and I-76: One lane of southbound I-25 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
o State Highway (SH) 224 to eastbound I-76: The ramp from SH 224 to eastbound I-76 will be completely closed from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
o Eastbound US 36 to southbound I-25: The ramp from eastbound US 36 to southbound I-25 will be completely closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
o Eastbound I-76 to northbound I-25: The ramp from eastbound I-76 to northbound I-25 will be completely closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
o Northbound I-25 to eastbound I-76: One lane of the ramp from northbound I-25 to eastbound I-76 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday.
Detour routes will be posted for each closure and motorists are reminded to obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to "Slow for the Cone Zone."
Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this $14.7 million phase. The new flyover bridge from eastbound I-270 to eastbound I-76 is now open to traffic, but additional work near the interchange will continue until the end of November 2008.
