Older cats make great pets
Contributed by: Antonia Murphy on 1/22/2007

We must remember all the homeless animals that have survived this bitter cold weather. Most rescued cats are adults this time of the year. Thank you to those who have gone out of your way to save these animals by bringing them to the adoption center at Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats. They have no choice. We are their voice.

Some advantages of choosing an older animal are:

· Because the cat is fully-grown, what you see is pretty much what you get-in size and personality.

· Many older cats are completely litter box trained, and have outgrown the kitten chewing and climbing phase.

· When the cat is homeless, she is likely to crave attention and after establishing trust, will be a loving, loyal companion.

· An adult cat (and kittens offered by Almost Home Adoptions) has had a wellness examination, has received a current vaccination, has been tested for FeLV/FIV (feline leukemia and feline aids) and has been spayed or neutered.

· Adult kitties seem to know they are homeless and are forever grateful to have a permanent, loving home.

Please help Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats continue to make a difference in the animal world. If your animal family is too full to adopt, please donate to the care of the kitties awaiting a home. We are also looking for warm-hearted volunteers.
