The MarySue Foundation is a non-profit Foundation whose sole purpose is to provide support for travel to a major event in a seniors life. The foundation will provide the round-trip transportation for the grant winner or if necessary will provide an escort to travel with the senior. The senior must be in a good state of health mentally and physically.
Many seniors are unable to attend special events due to lack of funds and travel support. Often seniors miss critically important events - the marriage of grandchildren, or friends gathering for reunions meant to commemorate pivotal aspects of life. The MarySue Foundation can change a Senior's life for a few days. But the memories will last a lifetime.
Mary was
Mary P. Bartlett
, descendent of
Josiah Bartlett
, third signer of the Declaration of Independence and mother of my husband, Adams 12 School Board member
Fred Schaefer
.
Sue
, my mother, was renowned for her Oregon State Blue Ribbon recipes, state fair winning quilts and her giving nature and life-long learning.
They were both generous, kind and thoughtful women. We know that they would appreciate the circumstances of our older Adams County citizens and would understand how tough a limited income can be.
We awarded our initial trip last month to
Marian Johnson
, a volunteer for Westminster District 50 Schools. She was overjoyed, as you can tell by the photo, when we showed up at her door with balloons and a plane ticket for San Francisco. She did not have the funds to attend her son's wedding. Now she will be on the front row!
We will be awarding trips twice a year. Our next cycle ends July 1. How wonderful it would be if we received this grant and were able to provide lasting memories to at least four more seniors this year.
If anyone has questions or would like an application please e-mail me at joanie7868@hotmail.com.
Thank you for your consideration.
