TOUCHING LIVES NOW, via LIFESPARK

I am writing to spread the word about an awesome local organization independently operating as Lifespark Cancer Resources. Nearly everyone has been both saddened or stunned by the news of a friend or loved one that has a cancer diagnosis.Most of us ask ourselves, "what can I do? or how can I help?" As a personal partcipant in the program, I can attest that Lifespark offers a weekly, affordable program that can revive's a cancer patient's spirit , as well as fuel a continued desire to live. Lifespark Cancer Resources accomplishes this by pairing up a cancer patient with a certified Reiki or Healing Touch energy practioner.

Perhaps, you are unfamiliar with either Reiki or Healing Touch energy treatments. Here is an introduction regarding what occurs during a typical session. To begin with, the individual lies fully clothed on a massage table, in bed or sitting in a chair. The energy provider gently places their hands on, or slightly above the individual receiving the treatment. Many participants (including myself) share that they have felt deeply relaxed and peaceful both during and after, the hour long session. Although one may state, "not feeling anything going on " , there is an undeniable connection between the energy provider and the person receiving the treatment. After effects affirm that there is definitely something going on...Those in the program work with the same Reiki or Healing Touch practioner every week , so there is a sense of safety and continuity involved with treatments.

Reiki and Healing Touch energy treatmentscan be considered as an alternative, non-invasive, drug-free treatment for cancer symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation. They complement traditional medical treatments and present the following potential outcomes, according to program participants:

- improvement in energy and well-being
- decreased pain, anxiety and depression
- reduction of nausea symptoms
- support for healing after surgery and medical procedures
- a feeling of being cared for and nurtured

The Lifespark program offers cancer patients an opportunity to regain an overall sense of well-being, and a weekly escape for that precious hour, from the stress of facing an intense, health crisis. Lifespark provides Reiki or Healing Touch energy treatments at a greatly reduced fee, on a sliding scale from $1.00-$20.00, depending on what the participant can afford. Whereas, certified energy practioners typically charge clients, $60.00-$75 .00 per hour. So as one can see, energy practioners in the Lifespark program are basically donating their time and skills to those in need of their gift of healing.

Lifespark Cancer Resources has several hour long "Touching Lives" events monthly at different locations in the Metro area.
