The team of dreams
Contributed by: Pam Armstrong on 4/13/2008

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.
It was the playoff series; it was the pre-season games.
It really doesn't matter. I just love the Rockies!
Win or lose, they entertain.
They give us respite to the weary winter. You can almost hear a unified sigh rise from the city. Our hearts are a little giddy because our boys are back.
The Tulo chants will again be heard. Is he my favorite? Don't be absurd. I can't pick one. I love them all. Hawpe, Herges, Helton, Holiday - They are among my favorites. No wait... Tulo, Torrealba, Taveras... no I mean Atkins, Spilborgh, Francis, Cook... It is impossible to pick a favorite. They are a TEAM.
That is what is so remarkable about this group of players. No superstars, no glory hogs. When one is down, the others lift him up. When one lacks in offense, he shines in defense. They are a well-rounded, strong team. I've watched the Rockies from day one. We have had some remarkable players through the years. Blake street bombers are part of our history. The Cat, E.Y, Hayes were some of our best. Larry Walker wowed us, Weis amazed us, and everyone loved cousin Vinney, but I think this is the best TEAM we have ever had.
Win or lose, it doesn't really matter to me. I know that each and every game they go out and give 100%. I, like anyone, love the big hits but my favorite is the defense. It is like watching a fine oiled machine - every cog in sync. What is more exciting than a home run? A double play, a triple play - now that's baseball at it's best.
Season tickets - only a dream, but isn't that what some said about the Rockies making it to the World Series. "Only in their dreams."
I dare to dream!
