I have been a Rockies fan from the first day they played. I saw several games at Mile High Stadium and attend several games each summer at Coors Stadium. The Rockies have given me a team to brag about and be proud of in the Denver area. Listening to the broadcasters and reading about the team makes me feel that I personally know the players...and it is so much fun to spout off information about each player to other people!!
For 14 years, I worked at the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, where my husband and I were sponsor family for many cadets...both American and foreign cadets. We have brought cadets and cadet families from all over the United States to see OUR Colorado Rockies play. Any time a family visited the Academy, we tried very hard to arrange to bring them to a Rockies game. WHY? Because we are SO PROUD of our Rockies and the excitment of baseball they have brought to the Denver area.
But what I am most proud of is bringing cadets from Singapore, Sri Lanka, Phillipines, and other foreign countries to see OUR Rockies play. Most of these cadets had never been to a baseball game before and knew almost nothing about the game. We had so much fun teaching them about the game as well as bragging about our individual players to each of them!!
We were at the last game of the season in 1995 when the Rockies won the game to go to the play-offs!! What an exciting moment!!! During the play-offs, we were in Miami, FL, visiting one of our cadet's family...this family knew how important the Rockies were to us, and made sure to include every play-off game in our schedule. In fact, the night we arrived, they met us at the airport and stopped at a restaurant on the way to their home. As soon as we ordered our food, the father took me out to his car and turned on the game so that I would not miss any of it!!
Even though we have been to many games, and have seen some exciting things at the games, it would be such a thrill for me to be able to see one game from the box seats!!
