Venture down to Aurora for great Vietnamese food
Contributed by: Sharaine J. Roberts on 6/2/2006

Thornton residents Sharaine and Randall Roberts decided to venture south to Aurora to try a new Vietnamese restaurant, Vietnam House.

It's located at 13250 East Mississippi, close to I-225. The restaurant is rather large, having both a bar and seated dining, in addition to a stage where live shows happen Thursday through Sunday nights from 9 p.m. to 1a.m.

The decor is Vietnamese with tropical nuances. Vietnam House is owned by Paulo Fam, whose wife, Kathy, owns American Nails by Target on 120th Avenue, and whose brother-in-law owns Thornton's favored restaurant, Chan's.

Vietnam House's menus are extensive: the lunch menu alone boasts 311 different choices.

We started with appetizers of Goi Cuon - Vietnamese spring rolls. For the entrees, we had Bun Bo Nuong - Grilled eef with rice noodles and vegetables and Do Bien Xao Gung - Special seafood combination in a ginger sauce. The seafood included fish, shrimp, crab, squid, scallops and mussels with fresh hand-picked vegetables. All of the food was delicious!

Take a risk and break out of your routine when it comes to dining out and give the Vietnam House a try. You'll be glad you did. The drive from Thornton is only 20 minutes. It's well worth the effort!

The Vietnam House is open Monday - Sunday, 11am - 10pm. Live Entertainment is from 9pm - 1am Thursdays - Sundays. Take out is available. 303-306-1020; Fax: 303-306-1137. Visit their website: www.vietnamhouserestaurant.com for a full preview.
